The domaine's History

The domaine de Tremagouet, between Rennes and Saint-malo, is an old farm, the oldest building of which is dated from 1740. Typical in Brittany, the farmhouse has since spread, to house the new members of the family. The farmhouse is now 40m long, and the most recent construction dates back to 1820.

In 1999, Cyril and Tiphaine, a young couple, acquired the Domaine de Tremagouet with the idea of renovating it to make it into their house, a recording studio, and holiday cottages. They had their work cut out for them, because everything was in ruins : there were no floors, no bathroom, no warm water, no woodwork, 48 linear metres of roofing to rebuild, and 5000 m² of garden that had been left completely unattended for over 50 years… Thankfully they were young, and didn't realise how much work was needed, or they might never have attempted it! But they drew up their sleeves, and with the help of their friends and family, and an army of craftsmen, the Domaine slowly came to be, after several years. While respecting the building's history, and working with ecological materials so as to keep the farmhouse's authenticity, they first got to work on their future house, then went on to the recording studio “La chouette” before finishing by the “Oiseaux de passage” holiday cottages. After all this, in view of boosting rentals for the cottages, and with the idea of building a swimming pool, they then brought another building close by in 2008. And in 2012, Kabuki Spa et Institut was born!

The only place of the Domaine that hasn’t been modified, is the mediaeval moat, that dates back to the XIth century and is a classified historical monument . This moat is surrounded by a ditch, and used to house a watchtower.

All this is the Domaine de Tremagouet, a holiday spot that corresponds to the owner’s vision : in the middle of a quiet countryside, in a family friendly atmosphere, cosy and intimate.
